#10000uur: take a stance against over time
10,000 unpaid hours of extra work. That is the reality at Utrecht University. Due to cutbacks and an increasing student population, the duties of scientific personnel increase, without the same increase in hours or pay.
Why is this a problem?
1. This is unfair, it’s wage theft
2. It takes a mental and physical toll on teachers
3. It has a negative influence on the quality of our education
What are we doing?
On 31 August, the opening of the Academic Year, we are taking action! United behind #10000uur (10,000 hours), we are spray chalking 10,000 red squares through Utrecht, ending at the Academiegebouw. One square for each unpaid hour. Backed by all university council parties among others, we take a stance against the workload of scientific personnel and express our support for our teachers.
