Naast de landelijke versterking van de medezeggenschap heeft VUUR samen met de PvdUS een nota geschreven om de medezeggenschap op de UU te verbeteren. Wat willen wij? Op meer vlakken instemmingsrecht, altijd op tijd en volledig geïnformeerd worden en extra budget voor opleidingscommissies en faculteitsraden ter facilitering en ondersteuning van hun werk. Hierbij kun je denken aan training, advies en ambtelijke ondersteuning. Daarnaast moet het aantal uren aansluiten bij de zwaarte van de taak. De nota wordt in de februaricyclus behandeld.

The ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) recently created the bill Strenghtening Administrative Power for Educational Instutitions (Wet Versterking Bestuurskracht Onderwijsinstellingen). Research partly done by the Dutch education inspection has shown that student and staff representational bodies sometimes lack the rights and support needed to fulfill their role. For this reason, Education Committees will henceforth have the right of consent for the Education Exam Rulebook (OER). This means they have to accept it before it can become official.
Besides this national step towards a stronger student representation, VUUR and PvdUS have written a proposal that calls for improvement of student representation at UU. What do we want? We want the right of consent to become the norm in more cases, complete transparency to the student representational bodies, and a larger budget for the Education Committees and the Faculty Councils, which will allow them to fulfill their role better. This budget could, for example, be put toward training and professional advice and support. It is also important to ensure that the number of hours allocated to student representational bodies matches the tasks they have to fulfill.
